T.I. Finally Addresses 'Hymen-Gate' on Jada Pinkett Smith's 'Red Table Talks'
T.I. has finally spoke out on his controversial comments about taking his daughter to the gynecologist "to check her hymen."
The rapper and his wife, Tiny, appeared on Jada Pinkett Smith's Red Table Talks series, and the host dove into the controversy as soon as they sat down.
T.I. started off by referring to the ordeal as "hymen-gate," then explained why he thought the comments had been "misconstrued" and "misconceived."
The rapper clarified that he was never in any exam room and that the so-called "hymen checks" were not happening in present day to his 18-year-old daughter, Deyjah. Tiny added that they happened when she was 15 and 16.
T.I. also clarified that Deyjah's mother accompanied them to gynecologist appointments, and that Deyjah herself had no objection to him going with them.
He went on to say that he was "incredibly apologetic" to his daughter for talking about her personal business in public, recognizing that it was "hurtful" and "embarrassing."
T.I. also said that he hadn't initially responded to the backlash because his daughter requested that he stay silent. T.I. added that he was speaking out now because Deyjah has now given him "different directives" to "clear it up."

As previously reported, Tip's original comments — "We have yearly trips to the gynecologist to check her hymen" — first appeared on the Ladies Like Us podcast earlier this month. The hosts of the podcast subsequently apologized for the episode.
Amidst the backlash, Deyjah supposedly blocked her father on social media, then later fully removed her accounts.
