Published Sep 27, 2021Turn on the bright lights, 'cause Interpol are working on a new album.
In a press release, the band revealed that they're currently in-studio in London, writing and recording with producers Flood and Alan Moulder.
"We are overjoyed to announce Flood & Moulder will be producing and mixing the next Interpol record," said the band's guitarist Daniel Kessler. "We are longtime admirers of their work and delighted to be in the studio with them. Starting this party right."
Flood and Moulder have worked on records from the Jesus and Mary Chain, Nine Inch Nails, PJ Harvey, My Bloody Valentine, U2, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Beach House, the Killers and a bunch more.
In June, Interpol posted to Instagram that they'd been writing remotely through the pandemic, with the band writing: "Interpol has been working on new music since last summer. Due to the pandie, we had to use the internet to circulate ideas and collaborate remotely. This was a new experience for us."
They continued: "The unfortunate constraints of the last 15 months have informed our music positively, we feel. We took it as a chance to grow and made the best of it. Hopefully this work shows that when one is forced to find new ways to meet familiar challenges the results can be unexpected and beautiful."
The upcoming album is expected to be released on Matador. It'll be the band's seventh full-length and the follow-up to 2018's Marauder and 2019's A Fine Mess EP.
