Discharge Discharge

The original crusty punks return with a bunch of state-smashing songs with a Motörhead edge to them. Featuring the original line-up, and completely devoid of melody, the band that has influenced everyone from Napalm Death to Dinosaur Jr. crank out 13 songs that'll inspire you to hurl a Molotov cocktail at your local authority figure. Or at least sit on the sidewalk and panhandle for beer money. Although they keep up a decent level of aggression, time has worn them down somewhat; there aren't any songs on this that have the power and memorable qualities of early hits like "State Control." Also disheartening is their label choice, as Sanctuary Records is manufactured and distributed by none other than EMI, whose parent company is an arms manufacturer; an odd choice for an anti-war band.
