Adam Driver Walks Out of NPR Interview After Host Plays Clip of Him in 'Marriage Story'
Published Dec 18, 2019Adam Driver apparently hates the sound of his own voice so much that he walked out of an interview when the host played a clip of him from Marriage Story.
Driver was set to be interviewed by NPR's Fresh Air host Terry Gross yesterday (December 17) but walked out of the interview after she played a clip of him singing in the recent Netflix film.
Driver was in a studio in New York, while the host was in Philadelphia. Gross suggested Driver remove his headphones during the clip, since they had used the same arrangement for a 2015 interview.
Instead, Driver walked out of the studio, then left the building.
"We don't really understand why he left," Fresh Air executive producer Danny Miller said in a statement. "We were looking forward to the interview — Terry thinks he's a terrific actor, he was a great guest when he was on in 2015 — so we were disappointed that we didn't have a new interview to share with our listeners about Marriage Story."
Back in 2015, Driver told Gross on Fresh Air: "I've watched myself or listened to myself before, then always hate it. And then wish I could change it, but you can't. And I think I have, like, a tendency to try to make things better or drive myself and the other people around me crazy with the things I wanted to change or I wish I could change."
Marriage Story is available to stream on Netflix now. Driver also appears in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which is in theatres Friday (December 20).
