Brian Wilson has publicly denounced Mike Love's upcoming performance with the Beach Boys at the Safari Club International Convention in Reno, NV.

On Wednesday (February 5), Love's touring incarnation of the band are slated to perform at the pro-trophy hunting convention, which will feature a keynote address by Donald Trump Jr.

Wilson has now signed and shared a Change.org petition on his social media accounts, encouraging Love to pull out of the event.

"It has been brought to my attention that on Wednesday February 5, the Beach Boys touring group licensed by Mike Love are headlining at the Safari Club International Convention in Reno, Nevada," he tweeted. "This organization supports trophy hunting, which Both Al [Jardine] and I are emphatically opposed to. There's nothing we can do personally to stop the show, so please join us in signing the petition."

See his plea below.

Love has since responded to Wilson. In a statement via Pitchfork he said, "We look forward to a night of great music in Reno, and, as always, support freedom of thought and expression as a fundamental tenet of our rights as Americans."

Wilson and Love both continue to tour with varying members of the Beach Boys, though they have not shared a stage together since the group's 50th anniversary shows in 2012.
