Published Dec 18, 2019So far, we haven't known much about Christopher Nolan's upcoming film Tenet, but the director is finally opening up a bit about his next project, as well as giving us some first-look images.
The movie — Nolan's 11th feature film — is described as "an action epic from the world of international espionage," and it features a stacked cast that includes John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Kenneth Branagh and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
We now have some images to go along with the cryptic project courtesy of EW. As you can see, they don't reveal a ton, but show Washington and Pattinson looking all crisp in one, while the other finds Washington and Debicki on a motorboat.
Nolan spoke a bit about the project as well, telling EW, Washington is "very much the hero" in Tenet.
"He's a massively talented actor and physically gifted," said Nolan. "He's an athlete and pretty hard for anybody to keep up with, including the different vehicles we shot him from — cars and helicopters. [Laughs] This guy moves."
And while Nolan didn't really give us any plot details, he did add this about the production:
We're jumping off from the point of view of an espionage film, but we're going to a number of different places. We're crossing a few different genres in a hopefully exciting and fresh way. [Producer] Emma [Thomas] and I have put together a lot of large-scale productions, but this is certainly the biggest in terms of international reach. We shot in seven countries, all over the place, with a massive cast and huge set pieces. There's no question, it's the most ambitious film we've made.
Tenet is slated to arrive in theatres on July 17.
